Age Calculator
Enter a date of birth for an exact age in years, months and days - plus total days lived and a countdown to the next birthday.
How the age is worked out
The honest way to measure age is to walk the calendar, not to divide the total days by 365. Starting from the date of birth, the tool counts every whole year up to the most recent birthday, then the whole months since that birthday, then the days left over. Because it steps through real months and real leap years, the answer stays correct whether someone was born in a 28-day February or a 31-day January.
Say you were born on 15 June 1990 and check your age on 10 July 2026. That is 36 whole years (your 2026 birthday has passed), plus the days from 15 June to 10 July, which is 25 days - so 36 years and 25 days. The total-days figure counts every calendar day in between, leap days included, which is why it is a bit more than 36 times 365.
What the other numbers mean
- Total months - complete calendar months lived, useful for a baby's age or a work anniversary.
- Total weeks and days - handy for pregnancy weeks, milestones and "you have been alive for..." trivia.
- Total hours - total days multiplied by 24, a fun way to see the scale of a lifetime.
- Next birthday - calendar days until the next one, so you know how long the countdown is.
Watch the edge cases
Anyone born on 29 February only gets a real birthday every four years, so in ordinary years the countdown treats 1 March as the birthday. And because this uses your device's local calendar, there is no time-zone drift to shift a date by a day. Need to measure a gap that is not a birthday? The date calculator counts days, weeks and working days between any two dates, while the time calculator adds up hours and minutes for timesheets.
