Word counts that actually matter
Whether it's a 280-character post, a 500-word essay or a 60,000-word manuscript, most writing lives inside a limit. This counter tracks words, characters (with and without spaces), sentences and paragraphs live as you type, plus estimated reading and speaking time so you know how your text will land.
Common length targets
- X / Twitter post - 280 characters
- Meta description - 150 to 160 characters
- Blog post - 1,000 to 2,000 words for most topics
- College essay - often 250, 500 or 650 words
- Five-minute talk - roughly 700 words at presentation pace

Keyword density
Once you pass 30 words, the table above shows your most-used words and what share of the text they take up. It's a quick way to spot over-repetition in an essay - or to check a page isn't accidentally keyword-stuffed.
