Cool fonts that survive copy and paste

Instagram, TikTok, X and Discord bios give you a plain text box with no formatting buttons. The trick these generators use is not a font at all - it is Unicode. Alongside the normal letter "a", Unicode defines separate characters such as mathematical bold "a", monospace "a" and fullwidth "a". They are real, distinct characters, so when you copy them into a bio the bold or italic look travels with them. A true font, by contrast, would be stripped the moment you paste into a field that has no styling.

How to use it

Type or paste your text at the top, scan the styles, then hit the copy button next to the one you want and paste it wherever you need it. Bold, italic, monospace and fullwidth are the most widely supported and are safe almost everywhere. Squared, circled and upside down are more of a gamble - they look great on modern phones but can show as empty boxes on older devices or in apps with limited fonts. If in doubt, preview on the device your audience actually uses.

Please use it sparingly

There is a real accessibility cost. Because each fancy letter is a separate symbol, a screen reader does not see the word "hello" - it tries to announce each mathematical or styled character one at a time, which is slow and often unintelligible. That is fine for a short decorative bio, but do not set a whole caption, article or anything a blind reader needs in styled Unicode. Keep the important information in plain text and reserve the fancy characters for a flourish.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get fancy fonts on Instagram?
Type your text into the box above, pick a style you like, tap Copy, then paste it into your Instagram bio, caption or story. Instagram has no built-in font picker, so people use Unicode styles like these instead. The same paste works in TikTok, X and Discord.
Why do some characters show as boxes?
A box or empty rectangle means the device you are viewing on does not have a glyph for that Unicode character in the font it is using. The character is still there and correct, it just cannot be drawn. Older phones and some apps show more boxes than modern ones, which is why simpler styles like bold travel better than rare ones.
Is this actually a font?
No. These are separate Unicode characters that happen to look bold, italic or scripted, not a font applied to normal letters. That is exactly why they survive copy and paste into a bio field that gives you no formatting controls. It also means screen readers may read them oddly.
Will these letters work everywhere?
Mostly, but not perfectly. Bold, italic, monospace and fullwidth are very widely supported. Rarer sets like squared or upside down depend on the reader having the right characters installed. If something looks wrong to your audience, choose a plainer style.
