QR Code Generator

Turn a link, Wi-Fi network, message, email or phone number into a QR code and download it as a PNG or SVG - free, private and watermark-free.

Your QR code appears here as you type.

What you can encode

A QR code is just a compact way to store a short piece of text that a phone camera can read instantly. This generator covers the things people actually scan: a website URL, any plain text, a Wi-Fi network so guests can join without typing a password, a pre-filled email, or a phone number that dials when tapped. Everything is generated in your browser, so nothing you type - including Wi-Fi passwords - ever leaves your device.

PNG or SVG, and what size

Download a PNG for screens, slides and social media, or an SVG for print and signage where it must scale without pixelating. For size, 256 pixels is fine for a web page, while 1024 or 2048 pixels is better for posters and flyers. A good rule for print is that the code should be at least 2 cm square, and larger if people scan it from a distance - a poster on a wall needs a much bigger code than a business card.

Getting a reliable scan

  • Keep strong contrast: dark code on a light background scans best.
  • Leave the light "quiet zone" border around the code - do not crop it tight.
  • Raise error correction to High if you will place a logo over the centre or print small.
  • Always test with a couple of real phones before you print hundreds of copies.

Working on other assets? Shorten a messy address first with the slug generator, generate a matching Wi-Fi password, or turn the finished PNG into an inline data URI with the image to Base64 tool.

Frequently asked questions

Do these QR codes expire?
No. Every code here is static, meaning the data is baked directly into the pattern. There is no redirect, no tracking and no server involved, so the code works forever and keeps working even if this site disappears.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
Use PNG for websites, documents and social posts - it is a ready-to-use image. Use SVG for print, large signage or anywhere you need to scale the code without it going blurry, since SVG is vector and stays crisp at any size.
How does a Wi-Fi QR code work?
It encodes your network name, password and security type in a standard format. When someone points their phone camera at it, the phone offers to join the network automatically - no typing the password. It works on modern iPhones and Android devices.
What is the error correction level?
It sets how much of the code can be damaged or covered while still scanning. Low recovers about 7%, High about 30%. Higher levels make the pattern denser but more robust - pick High if the code will be printed small, on a curved surface or with a logo over it.
Is there a limit to how much text I can encode?
A QR code can hold up to about 4,000 characters, but the more you add the denser and harder to scan it becomes. For long links use the URL mode, and keep plain text codes short so a phone camera can read them quickly.
