SVG to PNG

Turn SVG files or pasted SVG code into PNG images at any resolution - 1x to 4x or exact pixel dimensions. Rendered in your browser, never uploaded.

Vector in, pixels out

SVG is resolution-independent - it is maths, not pixels, so it stays razor sharp at any size. PNG is the opposite: a fixed grid of coloured dots. Rasterising an SVG to PNG is what you do when a tool refuses to accept vectors: app icons, email graphics, social images, favicons and the many places that still want a plain bitmap. This converter draws your SVG onto an HTML canvas at the exact size you ask for and hands back a PNG, all without a single byte leaving your browser.

Choosing a size

Pick a multiplier when you just want the artwork bigger or smaller than its natural dimensions, or switch to custom pixels for an exact target. Leave one of the custom boxes blank and the aspect ratio is preserved from the other. If your SVG has no width or height and no viewBox to infer them from, the tool falls back to 512 by 512 and tells you so, because there is nothing in the file to say how big it should be.

What will not render

One important limit: when a browser draws an SVG through the image pipeline, it deliberately ignores anything that could reach outside the file. That means foreignObject, externally referenced <image> files, and fonts or CSS loaded from other URLs simply do not appear. Everything you want in the PNG must be inline in the SVG. Transparent areas stay transparent unless you add a background colour.

Need to go the other way or handle other formats? Try the image converter for PNG, JPG and WebP, the image to Base64 encoder for inlining, or the favicon generator to build a full icon set.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert an SVG to PNG?
Paste your SVG code or drop in an .svg file, pick a size - either a 1x/2x/4x multiple of the original or exact pixel dimensions - and download the PNG. The rendering happens on a canvas in your browser, so the file is never uploaded anywhere.
Will the PNG have a transparent background?
Yes, by default. PNG supports transparency, so any area your SVG leaves blank stays see-through. If you would rather have a solid colour behind the artwork, tick the background option and choose a colour.
Why does my exported PNG look empty or wrong?
The most common cause is content the browser cannot rasterise from an SVG image: foreignObject elements, externally referenced images, or fonts and stylesheets loaded from other files. Those render fine in a live page but are dropped when an SVG is drawn to a canvas. Inline everything into the SVG first.
What resolution should I export at?
Match the largest place the image will appear, then double it for high-density screens. A 512px icon shown at 256px on a retina display should be exported at 2x. Because SVG is vector, you can scale up as far as you like without the fuzziness you get enlarging a raster image.
