How the generator works
Pick an amount, choose whether you want paragraphs, sentences or individual words, then hit generate. The tool draws from a bank of the traditional lorem ipsum vocabulary and assembles sentences of naturally varying length, each properly capitalised and punctuated. Paragraphs run between three and seven sentences, so the output has the same rhythm as real body copy rather than looking mechanical.
Everything happens in your browser, so it is instant and works offline. Nothing you generate is sent anywhere. Leave "Start with Lorem ipsum dolor" ticked to get the familiar opening that designers and clients recognise, or untick it for fully shuffled text every time.
When placeholder text earns its keep
Placeholder text is most useful when the layout matters more than the message: wireframes, component libraries, email templates, print mockups and theme demos. Because lorem ipsum has a letter and word-length distribution close to English, a block of it takes up roughly the same space the finished copy will, which is exactly what you need when you are judging line length, leading and how a heading sits above its paragraph.
Rough length guide
- One sentence - around 8 to 15 words
- One paragraph - roughly 40 to 60 words
- A short blog intro - 2 to 3 paragraphs
- A full article mockup - 6 to 10 paragraphs
Once real copy is ready, drop it into the word counter to check length, tidy up any messy pasted formatting with the line break remover, or fix casing fast with the case converter.
Tips for better mockups
Match the amount of placeholder to the real content you expect. If a card will hold a two-line summary, generate a couple of sentences rather than a full paragraph, otherwise your layout looks roomy in the mockup and cramped in production. For headings and buttons, switch to word mode and grab just three or four words so the label length is realistic.
One caveat worth knowing: never ship lorem ipsum to a live site. It is easy to forget a block of placeholder in a footer or a meta description, and search engines will happily index it. Do a final search for "lorem" across your project before launch. Used deliberately, though, placeholder text keeps everyone focused on the design decisions that actually matter until the words are ready.
