Fixing page orientation
Scanners and phone cameras often capture pages sideways or upside down. Rotating them in the PDF itself means they open correctly everywhere, without anyone needing to tilt their head or re-scan. This tool writes the new orientation directly into the file using pdf-lib, all inside your browser, so the document is never uploaded.
All pages or one at a time
Use All pages when an entire document came out rotated - pick 90, 180 or 270 degrees clockwise and every page turns together. Switch to Individual pages when only some pages are wrong: each page appears as a numbered chip, and every click turns that page another 90 degrees clockwise. The chip shows its current added rotation so you can see exactly what will change before you save.
Understanding the angles
- 90 degrees - a quarter turn to the right
- 180 degrees - upside down
- 270 degrees - a quarter turn to the left, the same as 90 counter-clockwise
Rotation is added to whatever orientation a page already has, so rotating a page that was already turned simply continues from there. Four clicks bring an individual page back to where it started.
Rotation versus re-scanning
Re-scanning a sideways document wastes time and, with a physical original, is not always possible. Rotating the existing PDF fixes the orientation in seconds and keeps the original scan quality, since nothing is re-rendered - only a small instruction telling viewers which way up to draw each page is changed. That is why the file size barely moves and the text stays perfectly selectable afterwards. It is the right fix for mixed documents too, where a couple of landscape tables sit inside an otherwise portrait report.
