PDF to Text
Lift every line of text out of a PDF, then copy it or save it as a .txt file - all inside your browser.
How the extraction works
This tool opens your PDF with the pdf.js engine, reads the text layer of each page, and reassembles it into readable lines and paragraphs. Characters are grouped back into lines by their position on the page, and a blank line is inserted where the spacing suggests a new paragraph. Everything happens locally in your browser tab - there is no upload and no server, so even sensitive documents stay private.
Page breaks and counts
Tick Mark page breaks to drop a clear --- page 2 --- line
between pages, which is handy when you need to know where each page ends. Untick it for one
clean run of text. The live character, word and page counts update with your choice, so you
can check length before you copy or download. When you are happy, copy the whole block to the
clipboard or save it as a .txt file.
Scanned PDFs contain no text
One important limit: a scanned document is a photo of a page, not text. It has no character data to extract, so this tool will return little or nothing. The quick check is to try selecting a sentence in your normal PDF reader - if the cursor will not highlight the words, they are an image and you need OCR to recognise them first.
